FABER or Patrick Test

Patient is lying supine and leg passively brought into Flexion, Abduction, and External Rotation with foot resting on opposite knee (see picture for example). Press down gently but firmly on the flexed knee and the opposite anterior superior illiac crest. Pain may be felt in the groin with intra-articular hip pathology or SI joint region with SI pathology.
